Boat Inspections Required to Launch at Echo Lake

In 2008 the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) and the Tahoe Resource Conservation District (Tahoe RCD) established a Watercraft Inspection Program to minimize the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in Lake Tahoe. In 2021, the inspection program was expanded to include Echo Lake and Fallen Leaf, as both drain into Lake Tahoe. For more information, go here: https://tahoeboatinspections.com/
The Chalet is not an inspection station. You MUST have a Tahoe sticker and an intact wire seal to launch a power-boat. Non-motorized watercraft that has left the basin must be clean and dry before launching at the lake.
ELA Power-Boat Sticker Program
Any Laker whose boat and trailer has an intact Echo Lakes seal is eligible. This program operates on the honor system. If anyone attempts to launch a boat with a TRPA sticker purchased through ELA but without an intact Echo seal, Chalet staff will send them to South Lake for inspection and they will not be allowed to participate in ELA’s sticker program going forward.
Boat Registration Number
Number that’s on your intact Echo seal, connecting your boat to its trailer (it’s suggested Lakers write down this number before storing boats in the Fall)
Check for $38 payable to ELA
Self-addressed stamped envelope
The following chart shows the steps to get your Tahoe Only sticker through ELA. The Chalet takes care of stickers for all boats it stores. Questions can be sent to Melinda Norcott at boatsticker@echolakenews.org
